There’s an old story that goes: when the gods made the world, they reached into their proverbial bag of tricks, and, taking out mountains, made the Himalaya. They took out rainforests, and made the Amazon. They took out glaciers, and made Greenland. They took out grasslands, and made the Serengeti. Finally, they dumped out all the crumbs, and made Patagonia–a place of diverse ecosystems and myriad natural wonders.
Aysén, Patagonia is Chile’s least populous and most off-the-beaten path region, where small-scale ranchers live off the grid and ride five hours to the nearest town, where peaks remain unclimbed and unnamed, and where a spirit of neighborliness and care pervades. This region is also home to landmark wilderness conservation initiatives, led by Tompkins Conservation and culminating in the establishment of 10+ million acres of new national parklands. We’ve lived and worked in this region for decades, and take pride in immersing you in its furthest reaches.
